Maybe you’re sort of like me and fed up with searching countless hours for makeup tips and trends for the winter, only to find that most of them aren’t woman of color friendly…just like most makeup brands, hair products, and virtually everything else for that matter.You want something a bit more practical. You’re an everyday girl on the go and you prefer not to look “fresh off the runway ready” every time you run to Walmart. At the same time, you would love to feel like a glamor queen at the next winter party.
Let’s be honest, sometimes the makeup advice we’re given by top beauty gurus just isn’t realistic for your everyday woman. For this reason, I have compiled a list of makeup trends to help every brown girl’s winter makeup woes feel a little less heavy.
Copper Penny Eye
Copper is a color that looks AB-SO-LUTE-LY GORGEOUS on brown skin! Not to mention this look is easy to achieve. You can rock this look with minimum eyeliner and still look glammed down! You can choose to wear your copper penny eye with a more gold shadow or orange shadow, depending on how you feel that day. I personally prefer gold on darker tones and orange on lighter tones. This look is perfect the winter months!
No Eye Makeup with Bold Lip
My goodness! No eye makeup? Like, none? Yes! You read correctly! This makeup look is ideal for the winter because eyes are typically drier in the winter months and no one wants to risk having runny eye makeup. Pair with a bold lip to take the attention off of your eyes and onto your favorite winter lippie!
Goth Lips
Dark lips look great on brown skin! WOC can rock several different dark lip options for the winter such as deep reds, purples, and browns. When you’re feeling extra bold you can even rock a black. These colors accentuate our full lips in the winter time without making us appear washed out.
Glitter Eyes

From the runways of Milan to the girl next door, this is a trend I’m sure you’ve been seeing everywhere lately! Glitter eyes were once frowned upon but that is now a thing of the past. This eye makeup trend is perfect for your next winter party. The glitter makes our eye color pop as our iris appears brighter. Bright eyes with brown skin is so mesmerizing. This look should be paired with a neutral colored lippie for optimal presentation.
