“I’m grown, but I’m still growing…”
When I was in college I first started this blog during Christmas break December 2014. Honestly? I was afraid of going back home and falling into a recurring depression. Writing for me is what helped me stay healthy, and I knew it may help someone else do the same. Back then this blog had a different name, but the same mission–to give myself and other black girls like me space to figure life out loudly and imperfectly.
Fast forward a few years later and GROW/N (pronounced ‘grown’) has quickly become a platform for girls struggling their way through college, girls post grad and confused, girls who are so passionate about their dreams but have no guide, and the girls who are willing to reach back and pull their sisters through when they find a new solution to life.
As draining as adulting for black women can be, it’s important to support each other and remind each other we’re in this together. As a creative and artist myself, maintaining the vision of this platform has helped ground me and push me to keep making spaces for us.
Thank you to the GROW/N team, GROW/N’s readers, subscribers, followers, and dedicated supporters. Stay connected with us for more stories and events to come!
Sincerely,
Kaya Nova, Creator & Editor-in-Chief
